Movie of the Week: Happily N’Ever After

• Wizard in charge of Fairy Tale land goes on vacation, leaving the fate of Fairy Tale Land to two irritating talking creatures who were no match for Cinderella’s evil stepmother Frida, who in turn took over and wreaked havoc in the land.
• From the creators of Shrek. No match sa Shrek ang film, excited lang talaga ako for Shrek 3 kaya ko pinagtiyagaan. Tolerable naman.
• Swak yung boses ni Sigourney Weaver dun sa stepmother, hindi halatang siya. Hindi kagaya ni Ella at Rick na halatang halata na si Sarah Michelle Gellar at Freddie Prinze Jr. ang nagboses.
• Hindi nakakatawa masyado, meron lang mga parts na matatawa ka pero di ka naman mamamatay sa kakatawa. Ella’s (CindELLA) fairy godmother was ok. Ang kulit nung “I have come to grant tour wih of being a real boy!” tiyaka “You look beautiful SALMONELLA...”
• Nakakaaliw yung seven dwarves, ang kenkoy tiyaka ang bibilis kumilos. Sana nilubos lubos na ng movie na paglaruan lahat ng fairytale characters kaso masyadong focused kay Cinderella, corny. At ang gown ni Cinderella kinareer ng nag drawing, feeling debut.

On Being Mentally Retarded: Mentally retarded ako. Siguro nagtataka ang mga kakilala ko rito lalo na yung mga kasama ko sa UP kung anong pinagsasasabi ko. Si Dan mentally retarded?! Oh well, if you would like to know what I mean, come to my place with an Animal Planet crew for you to witness the peak of mental retardation. Ang problema sa akin napaka immature ko. Sa totoo lang mas mature pa ang kapatid ko na six years bata sa akin. Siya nga dapat ang kuya e. Hindi ko naman masisi ang age gap namin. Siguro kaya ako ganito kasi nagpilit akong bumaba sa maturity level niya tapos nagpilit siyang umakyat sa maturity level ko para magkasundo kami. Ayun nagkasalisi bumaliktad, di na kami nagkita, hehehe. Pero hindi siguro yun ang dahilan e. Wala lang. When I turned 18 and started writing a daily journal nag set na ako ng deadlines to grow up. 2003 pa yun. Nung una, sige grow up by Christmas. Reset, sa debut na lang ng pinsan mo. Reset, pag nag 19 ka na lang. Reset, pag 20 na lang. Reset, sige 21. Hanggang ngayon ito, retarded pa rin. Final reset: September 26, 2007 upon reaching double dos, I should grow up or else I would stay a retard forever. O baka naman nilalabanan ko lang, maybe I am destined to be a retard forever? Ewan naguguluhan na rin ako e. Siguro yun ang kulang sa akin na hinahanap ko pilit sa academics at sa trabaho pero di ko makita (Maturity). Oh grow up!

Academics: Kamusta naman ang hell week. Madalas sumasapit kapag malapit na ang tapos ng sem. Ang hell week ko for this sem ay tatlong araw lang. I survived! I am so happy!!! Isang paper na lang ang due next week pero no biggie. I am free! I am free from this hell semester na ginawa kong hell para sa sarili ko. I don’t want anything but OUT and I am almpst out! The hell, I am out, I am free!

Reminiscing: Ang bilis talaga ng panahon. I had a visit to my hometown on Friday for a cousin’s birthday, another cousin’s engagement party. Siyempre kapag bumalik ka sa isang lugar na matagal mo nang hindi binabalikan e babahain ka talaga ng memories, in this case not just memories but events happening in real time which will leave you reflecting on the state of your own life. A cousin already has a child. A cousin is getting married. A cousin is graduating from college. Yet another cousin is graduating from college next year (kasabay ako hopefully) and yet another one the year after that. The second youngest cousin is going to Ateneo this coming sem! It hit me all in an instant. Dun ko na realize, shet hindi na kami mga bata. Siyempre youngest generation kami pero ngayon may downline na ang family tree. May apo na sa tuhod si lola. Next year more or less magkaroon siya ng isa pa, then isa pa the year after that. Ang saya! Ang hindi lang masaya dito is that I can’t accept the fact that we are not kids anymore. Shet matanda na kami! The problem is ayaw kong tumanda. Physically I am 21 pero mentally 15 lang ata ako. I told you I’m retarded, just reaffirming. Naalala ko tuloy parang kailan lang, hindi kumpleto ang linggo kapag di kami nagkikita kitang magpipinsan kapag weekend. Ang weekend dapat sama sama. Lunch time may mahabang mesa na nakalatag sa garahe ng isa sa dalawang bahay sa isang banda ng subdivision namin na tinatawag naming KABILA. Magla lunch kami ng sabay sabay at pagkatapos hihiwalay na ang mga babae. Kaming mga lalaki naman ay direcho sa kwarto para mag video games, yun ang bonding namin. Nagsimula sa Family Computer, naging NES, naging SNES, PS, N64, PS2, X-BOX (pasensya na hindi kami SEGA fans). Pero ngayon nga hindi na ganun. Nakakawindang isipin kasi nga parang kailan lang. Dumating na ang una sa susunod na henerasyon, marami pang susunod. I think I need to grow up. Drama mode. Wala lang nakaka miss kasi mga pinsan ko. The one who got engaged is already leaving for the US... Naghiwa hiwalay man kami (technically kaming magkapatid lang naman ang nahiwalay), di mabubura ang pagiging magpipinsan namin. Cousins forever! Huhuhu. A toast to the future!

Current Events: May nang hostage ng bus na naglalaman ng mga pre schoolers na pinag aaral ng mismong nang hostage. Pinalabas ng media na hero si hostage taker at mukhang sumasang ayon naman ang mga magulang ng mga batang na hostage. Welcome to the Philippines! Sikat na naman tayo sa CNN at BBC, yahoo! Kailangan pa ba talaga mang hostage para maglabas ng opinyon... Bahala kayo.
