Game of Thrones (HBO): Season 1/Episode 7
Robert
Baratheon is fatally wounded in a hunting accident. He has Ned Stark write a
will proclaiming him as protector of the realm until Joffrey is old enough to
rule. He also changes his opinion about Danaerys, but the move comes a little
too late as the assassins out to get her have already been dispatched. One of
them tries to poison her with wine, but the attempt is foiled. Furious, Khal
Drogo promises to install their unborn son in the Iron Throne. Jon Snow is
bewildered by the disappearance of his uncle, and also mad for not being designated
as a ranger. Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony), attempts to get Ned’s support to
crown him as King, but Ned thinks the crown should go to Stannis, the other
brother after concluding that Cersei’s sons are Jaime Lannister’s bastards and
hence have no claim to the throne. Petyr convinces him to seize Joffrey knowing
that Cersei has plans to ignore the King’s last words, which she does. A
showdown at the Iron Throne room ends with Petyr betraying Ned, and Joffrey as
king.
Wow.
Just wow. I mean, WTF! This is how you create an engaging TV episode! This show
has got to be one of the most unpredictable ones out there today, if you have
not read the books, that is! Anyway, Queen Bitch finally wins her game of chess
against Boromir. I am actually rooting for Boromir here, but he is just so
righteous and honorable. To quote Queen Bitch, there is no middle ground in the
game of thrones! You win or you die! And come on, why would you trust your wife’s
stalker, for crying out loud? So yeah, kudos to Petyr for being such the
epitome of a snake in the grass! The ambitious and the clever win most of the
time after all. Anyway, I am lost for words. If there is one episode so far
that captures the essence of the show’s title, it has to be this one! Perhaps
it is now safe to say that we have to brace ourselves for more annoying Joffrey
Bieber antics now that he is king. Well, at least Goldilock’s brother is gone.
That means one less annoying spoiled brat to deal with. I hope Joffrey Bieber
dies soon too.

game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.” –Cersei Lannister
