Game of Thrones (HBO): Season 3/Episode 7

3.7 The Bear and the Maiden Fair
Daenerys marches into Yunkai and threatens invasion, but the proud nation just wouldn’t bow down to her in spite of her dragons. They offer her ships so she can sail back to Westeros and leave them in peace, but she refuses. Jon Snow tells Ygritte that they will die if they attempt to invade the North. Theon is untied and seduced by two women, probably half aware of the tragedy that will befall him next. Robb finds out that he is going to be a father soon. Arya runs away from the gold cloaks and ends up being captured by the Hound. Melisandre reveals to Gendry that he is Robert Baratheon’s bastard. Tyrion tries to woo Shae and promises her a good life even after his marriage, but she’s having none of it. Margaery schools Sansa regarding their position in society and how to make the most of what they have. She also advises her to give Tyrion a chance despite her reservations about him. Jaime Lannister is sent back to King’s Landing without Brienne, but comes back to Harrenhal just in time to see her in a pit with a wooden sword battling a bear. He rescues her and ends up taking her back with him on the road back home.

Aww, is it wrong to ship Prince Charming and Brienne? I am loving the bond they have formed, though, more like comrades in a long journey almost coming to an end. It’s always fun seeing Prince Charming’s human side. He has compassion after all. But the real star of the episode is no other than Dragon Mama, who, fresh from her shining moment in Astapor, now marches into Yunkai all demanding and bratty. We can see that she’s been having some practice, although her naivety is still pretty much obvious at this point. But who cares, she has her three reptilian children that are simply adorbs AF. She’s on her way to glory, which leaves us with just one clueless girl in the form of Little Dove. It’s a good thing that Queen Wannabe is now schooling her in the art of clever womanhood, which she so requires because all we ever see her do since Episode 1 is cry and swoon on pretty boys who are either a) sadistic/psychotic; or b) prefers other pretty boys. I look forward to the time when Little Dove can manipulate people with a good mix of bitchiness and/or political power. Because damsels in distress are just so exhausting to watch.

“You know nothing, Jon Snow.” –Ygritte
