Como já mencionei, o custo da propina é tudo incluso. Cada semana os alunos recebem bilhetes: dois de cor verde para o almoço e o jantar, e um amarelo para o pequeno-almoço. O valor dos verdes é 21 patacas cada um; e os amarelos, 18 patacas. Somando tudo, chegam a 1,680 patacas para as quatro semanas do curso. Dividindo o resto dos 4,000 patacas para o dormitório e o custo do curso, é bastante evidente que tudo sai muito barato, né?

Se você pensa ir a Hong Kong o Zhuhai durante o fim de semana, não utilizaria, talvez, os bilhetes. Não deve se preocupar porque podem-se usar também para comprar chocolates, batatas fritas, frutas e bebidas na cantina. De qualquer forma, será muito mais barato comprá-los fora da universidade, mas naturalmente não aceitariam o bilhete fora da cantina. Na verdade são nada mais que papéis coloridos com carimbo.

Como é a comida na cantina, então? Eu acho que é muito parecida à comida filipina e por isso não tenho nenhuma queixa além das verduras que não me apetecem. Não obstante, a porção é muito generosa e como os servidores já me conhecem como esse rapaz que não come as verduras, dão-me normalmente uma extra porção da carne.

Talvez já não goste da comida oferecida todos os dias? Pode escolher alguma outra coisa no menu do Café Eskimo, o qual é do mesmo bufê mas com uma seleção mais ampla. O custo típico de refeição lá é 20 patacas sem bebida. Acho que vai chegar o tempo no qual vai gostar doutra coisa para comer. A escolha é sua. Senão na cantina, pode caminhar para baixo da colina e comer num dos vários restaurantes na ilha de Taipa, mas para mim, já basta McDonalds!

A cantina não é muito grande e na hora de almoçar tudo o mundo chega no mesmo tempo, mas não é tão desagradável. Na verdade é bastante divertido porque lembro-me dos anos 90 quando era aluno no colégio. O importante agora é que tenha um suprimento regular da comida não tão longe do dormitório. Desta maneira eu posso poupar dinheiro... para jogar no casino! HAHAHA.

As I already mentioned, the cost of the tuition is all inclusive. The students receive coupons each week: two green ones for lunch and dinner, and a yellow one for breakfast. The value of the green ones is 21 patacas, while the yellow ones are 18 patacas. The total reaches 1,680 patacas for the four-week duration of the course. Dividing the rest of the 4,000 patacas between the dormitory and the cost of the course, it is pretty evident that everything is so cheap, is it not?

If you are thinking of going to Hong Kong or Zhuhai during the weekend, perhaps you would not be using the coupons. You do not have to worry because you can also use them to buy chocolates, potato chips, fruits, and drinks at the canteen. In any case, it will be much cheaper to buy them outside the university, but of course they would not accept your coupons outside the canteen. In effect, they are just colored paper with stamps.

How is the food in the canteen then? I think that they are very similar to Filipino food, and for that I do not really have any complaints aside from the vegetables that do not really appeal to me. Nevertheless, the serving is very generous and since the catering crew already know me as that boy who does not eat veggies, they usually give me some extra serving of meat.

Maybe you no longer like the food offered every day? You can choose something else on Café Eskimo’s menu, which is of the same catering service but with a wider selection. The usual cost of a meal there is 20 patacas without drinks. I think that there will come a time when you would want something else to eat. The choice is yours. If not in the canteen, you could walk downhill and dine in one of the many restaurants on Taipa Island, but for me, McDonald’s would do!

The canteen is not very big and during lunch time everyone comes in at the same time, but is not that unpleasant. As a matter of fact, it is pretty amusing because I get to remind myself of the late 90’s when I was in high school. What is important now is that I have a regular supply of food not so far from the dormitory. This way, I could save money... for gambling in the casino! HAHAHA.
