Game of Thrones (HBO): Season 5/Episode 4

5.4 The Sons of the Harpy
Ser Jorah hurls Tyrion into a boat and they sail to Meereen, while Jaime hops on a merchant ship with Bron en route to Dorne. Ellaria rallies the Sand Snakes to her cause with Myrcella as their main target. Cersei continues to control the political affairs of King’s Landing through the Small Council, and fortifies her hold of religion by arming the faith militants, who arrest Loras as their first target. As Margaery puts pressure on Tommen for her brother’s release, his weakness as a king is highlighted as religion undermines the state. Melisandre seduces Jon Snow to persuade him to join their cause, but he resists her advances, citing his love for Ygritte as a reason. Little Finger heads back to King’s Landing and leaves Sansa alone with the Boltons despite her reluctance, assuring her that Stannis will march south to conquer Winterfell, rescue her, and name her Warden of the North. The Sons of the Harpy mount another attack, almost taking down Grey Worm and fatally injuring Ser Barristan.

Aww, I think this is the first time I am feeling empathy for Stanny B. Shireen is obviously his weakness, and she is the only one who can make his humanity shine through. At least he still has a redeeming factor somehow. Jesus Christ, Baby Boy Lannister, you can’t even throw a tantrum properly. I guess this is one of the rare moments when you miss Joffrey Bieber. I mean, the boy was obviously deranged, but he knew what he wanted and he always found a way to get it. Baby Bro is a doormat. A prepubescent doormat. Isn’t it fun to see how Prince Charming and Bronnie are now the ones broing down after Bronnie and Tyrion? I’d pay a monthly subscription to see the three of them star in a sitcom. Anyway, a lot of absent people in this episode. No Podrick and Brienne. No Baby Girl Stark. Come to think of it, they can’t all appear in every single episode. One hour is just not enough to contain all their individual dramas. Even the crippled Stark has not made an appearance for a while.

“You know nothing, Jon Snow.” –Melisandre
