Episode 12: Dark Matter
1987. The stranger takes Hannah back to 1987 and there she finds out the truth about the identity of her husband. Grandma Claudia also travels back there to meet the younger Claudia. They meet up in her office at the nuclear power plant and the younger is introduced to time travel. The elder travels farther back to 1953 to bury her time machine at the site of the younger’s future house, so that she could later unearth it in 1987. Grandpa Egon looks for the strange suspect who almost killed young Helge in 1953. He finds Grandpa Ulrich (Wienfried Glatzeder) in a mental institution. 2053. After his forbidden excursion to the Death Zone, Jonas is sentenced by Elisabeth to death by hanging, but she decides in the end to save his life. The Girl (Lea Van Acken) sets him free. He takes her to the Death Zone, where he manages to stabilize the black hole. A portal is opened and he steps in, while she looks at it in horror.
So Ulrich has spent 33 years of his life in the past in vain? What a tragedy! But that’s just poetic justice for him. His assumption about his assassination of young Helge’s was wrong. On the contrary it has triggered Helge’s devilish destiny. Why do I get the feeling that 2020 Hannah will be doing something stupid in 1987? I like, how mother and son are making up for lost time, but she is a pathological liar and a troublemaker. We have already proven that. And now, more questions: Who is the girl in the future? There is nobody in Winden in 2020 who is younger than Elisabeth, unless she also came from a previous timeline. How and when did Jonas suddenly become a genius physicist? Wasn’t he in high school before his trip to the future? Or maybe he is just a fast learner. He must have had gotten really good grades in Physics to so easily stabilize the God particle in just a few tries.
