Episode 13: Ghosts
23.06.1954. The young Helge is returned to his original timeline with Noah’s help. He speaks no word with anyone other than Noah. Egon tries in vain to find out everything about Ulrich’s identity. He has a visit from grandma Claudia and she asks for his forgiveness. The confused Egon goes back home and hears the same words from his young daughter. Agnes and Doris Tiedemann (Luise Heyer) are having a lesbian affair, but Tronte’s mother has a more important role to play in 1954. She meets grandma Claudia at the hut and the old woman asks her if she is ready to confront her brother Noah. The siblings meet at church and she gives him the piece of paper that she received from grandma. Later that night Noah kills the old woman in the woods with a shot of his shotgun. 1987. Egon has cancer and finally finds out all about Ulrich’s identity. He gives him a photo of Mikkel. Claudia learns how to operate the time machine and she ends up in 2020 at cancer-stricken Regina’s house.
This is the reason why I almost never watch more than one episode per night. The brain can only handle so much information for one night. The theme of this episode is all about parenthood and the lost time that one could no longer relive, unless you are part of Dark’s cast. Nevertheless, everything becomes emotional because we have an interplay of two to three versions of the same character at the same time. Egon and Claudia suffer the same fate as far as the issue of parenthood is concerned. What I’m interested in now is how 1987 Claudia can make up for lost time with her 2020 daughter. What I find intriguing is Adam’s identity. Could he be Egon, perhaps? He mentioned the same words from Claudia to Noah, and I believe that only father and daughter know about that. One more thing: I find it really cool how Noah seems so worried for the very first time. I thought that Agnes is just a pretty woman in elegant clothing. I am looking forward to their fraternal war.
