Episodio 28: Azalea (Templanza)
Episode 28: Azalea (Temperance)
1979. Virginia is pregnant and now has a big dilemma. Who is her baby’s father? She tells Ernesto and Silvia about it, but not her mom of course. For the first time she gets to see her sick father thanks to La Chiva but before being able to tell him her secret, her mother enters the room and takes her out of there because according to her, her husband has a very contagious disease. At present, Jenny and around 36 prisoners successfully escape while Paulina ends up at the clinic where she regains consciousness. Alejo and María José, the real María José, are there to give her the good news of her freedom. Fresh out of jail, she goes straight to the hospital to see Elena, whose life is at risk due to being in a coma and pregnant at the same time. Purificación skips her meds and makes a scene at the cabaret during Paulina’s welcome party, which becomes an impromptu family meeting to decide on the future of Elena and her baby. Diego is also invited and opposes an abortion. At the hospital, Elena wakes up from her coma.
It’s not a secret that I didn’t like the second season that much. It must be because of the boring subplots but it can also have something to do with the new characters. It seems like the screenwriter agrees with me because they are now casting them out one by one. Alejo and Jenny are now out of the scene and it looks like only Purificación will remain. As I already mentioned, I don’t like María José’s weirdo sister at all, but it never occurred to me that her behavior might be due to a mental illness. And so, what’s wrong with her? Schizophrenia? Multiple personality disorder? Bipolar disorder? All of a sudden I am interested because it is yet another taboo that needs to form part of public consciousness instead of being stigmatized. In other news, I don’t like it whenever Paulina enters the scene with the weight of the world on her shoulders, but each character needs to have a flaw and this is obviously hers. Take it ea-sy, Pau-li-na.
