She-Hulk: Attorney at Law - Episode 5

5. Mean, Green, and Straight Poured into These Jeans
The battle for She-Hulk’s name goes to court as Titania launches a full-blown skin treatment line after trademarking the pseudonym. Colleague Mallory Book (Renée Elise Goldsberry) is tasked to be She-Hulk’s lawyer while Jennifer is forced to defend her original animosity and eventual liking of the moniker given to her. Unfortunately, the only legal defense they see plausible is to enlist the help of Jen’s trainwreck dates when she changed her profile on Matcher from Jennifer Walters to She-Hulk. This means she gets to be humiliated by several men just for her to keep her name, which she eventually does after they win the case, much to Titania’s dismay and vow for revenge. While Jen is busy with her court hearings, Pug and Nikki go on a quest to find top-secret fashion designer Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews) who makes top-secret superhero costumes. They manage to convince him to create a set of stretchable ensembles for She-Hulk. As She-Hulk collects her suits, a box with a horned yellow mask/headgear is wrapped for pick-up.

Charlie Cox already said in an interview that his cameo here will be for one episode only, which means we will probably see him next week given how his iconic yellow headgear has already made an appearance in advance without him. Back to the show, who the heck is the big bad, seriously? We are already halfway done here and there is still no indication. It can’t be Titania considering how petty and self-absorbed she seems to be, not to mention how we haven’t seen her use her “powers” aside from that one time in the pilot episode. At this point she feels more like a sublevel boss, an annoying and uninteresting one at that. I won’t say that I am losing interest because all the legal superhero subplots are still keeping me busy, but it just feels like the show is not going anywhere without a big threat to for a coherent web for all of them. How many episodes do we have left, anyway? Four? The comedy is on-point and appreciated but perhaps they should start introducing more action scenes, lest they start losing their audience.

“But if you're gonna be my client you need to dress like you respect yourself and not like a football player pleading no contest to a DUI.” –Mallory Book
